NA 2010 success demonstrates recovery of material handling & logistics industry

426 exhibits covered 120,000 Square Feet at NA 2010

Industry professionals attending the recent 2010 North American Material Handling & Logistics Show (NA 2010) returned home armed with innovative material handling & logistics solutions for their recovering manufacturing and supply chain operations. The success of NA 2010 provided further evidence that an industry recovery is under way as half of NA 2010 attendees said they plan to spend more than $100,000 on material handling & logistics equipment and systems in the next 18 months. And 60% of those plan to spend more than $500,000. Nearly 20% of all NA 2010 attendees have spending plans over $1,000,000.

This year's event featured 426 exhibits covering 120,000 net square feet at Cleveland's I-X Center. More than 17,000 attendees saw everything from basic equipment to automated handling systems to software, control, IT and sustainability solutions in an impressive display of exhibits.

NA 2010 Educational Sessions Can Now Be Viewed As Webinars
The NA 2010 educational program spotlighted several important areas driving change in business today - sustainability, workforce, training and retail distribution.

The NA 2010 Show & Educational Conference featured 50 on-show-floor Seminars in the NA 2010 Knowledge Center. These 45-minute Seminars can now be viewed as Webinars on www.NAShow.com/seminars.

NA 2010 also featured a Keynote Seminar Series on the future track for sustainability, training, retail distribution, and workforce. Speakers offered four sessions with unique market insights into these important supply chain issues. The NA 2010 Supply Chain Summit brought together four distinct views of the supply chain from industry, the military, universities and government. Attendees gained insight into future supply chain models and their impact on business.

Over 200 Exhibitors Participate in the NA 2010 Spacedraw

More than 200 exhibitors selected over 90,000 net square feet of exhibit space at the NA 2010 Exhibit Spacedraw. The NA 2010 Spacedraw was held on January 14, 2009 during ProMat 2009 in Chicago, IL and launches a campaign that extends into early 2010. KIVA Systems was the first company to select space for the event to be held in Cleveland's I-X Center.

ABOUT THE EVENT
NA 2010 focuses on the supply chain solutions provided by material handling and logistics. The four-day event will be the most comprehensive showcase of material handling and logistics equipment, systems and technologies in the United States in 2010. The show is designed to offer productivity solutions and information by showcasing the products and services of over 400 material handling and logistics providers.

To make it easier for attendees to find the solutions they need, the NA 2008 show floor is divided into four "show-within-a-show" solution centers:

The knowledge center is the location of the educational conference that runs concurrently with the show and focuses on improving supply chain productivity. MHIA's Choice of Ohio as Location for NA 2010 Leads State of Ohio to Proclaim Material Handling & Logistics Week to Coincide with Event

Ohio Governor Ted Strickland and Lieutenant Governor Lee Fisher issued a proclamation today naming April 25-May 1, 2010 Material Handling & Logistics Week in Ohio. This event will coincide with the 2010 North American Material Handling & Logistics Show to be held April 26-29, 2010 at Cleveland’s I-X Center.

The proclamation states “The Material Handling Industry of America (MHIA) has demonstrated national leadership by highlighting the need for workforce development and Ohio looks to partner with them in the future to continue their successful efforts.” The proclamation was delivered by Steve Schoeny, Director of Ohio’s Strategic Business Investment Division to John Nofsinger, MHIA CEO on January 13, 2009 at the ProMat 2009 event.

“Our multi- and inter-modal transport capabilities place Ohio at the nexus of industry and opportunity in the materials handling and logistics industries,” said Lieutenant Governor Lee Fisher, who also serves as Director of the Ohio Department of Development. “To further our commitment to the logistics and distribution industries, Ohio has created a stimulus program that will provide more than $100 million over the next three years to cultivate continued success.

“Ohio is located within a day’s drive of 60% of the population of the United States and Canada,” added Steve Schoeny. “Our location, import/export acumen, infrastructure, and workforce all serve to strengthen Ohio’s position in the inventory management and supply-planning field.”
