Our Speaker: Ken Ackerman, Founder of WERC Warehouse Education Research Council and Past President of CLM Council Logistics Management, currently CSCMP.
Ken Ackerman has spent his entire business career in warehousing. Before becoming an international management advisor, he headed a multi-location warehousing company. He has written extensively on the subject and conducts warehousing seminars all over the country and overseas. Active in professional trade groups, he is a past president and winner of the Distinguished Service Award of Council Supply Chain Management Professionals, founder of Warehousing Education and Research Council and editor of Warehousing Forum. The publication takes the long view_ a recent issue carried a piece on warehousing performance standards for the year 2050. Challenges lay closer at hand. The vast increase in truck traffic is resulting in congestion that cuts the wages of drivers paid by the mile, and adds uncertainty in delivery. Ackerman’s possible solutions: mover some cargo from truck to rail; ship fuller loads, or—if someone has the money available – build segregated highways just for trucks.
Ken is the author of “Lean Warehousing”, Auditing warehouse performance”, “Warehousing profitability”,” Warehousing Fundamentals”, “Warehousing tips”.
Please come and answer the question World Trade Magazine asks “What does Ken Ackerman have in common with a US Senate committee, the Export-Import Bank, NY Times foreign affairs columnist Tom Friedman, The Netherlands, and the Port of Long Beach ?
